After noticing a recent surge of social media dry heaves and promoted articles about critical race theory, I got curious. What the hell is critical race theory? I decided to do some in-depth investigating — clicked two Wikipedia links — and quickly realized I was fully clueless. As is the case with most newsworthy topics, I am admittedly ignorant about this particular movement that’s apparently gaining popularity in schools.

I honestly hadn’t heard of it before a week ago. I’m fairly certain my lack of knowledge is just a symptom of my being uninformed and moderately dimwitted. I take full responsibility. My dumbness — though often adorable — is my cross to bear and mine alone. As far as I can tell, it has nothing to do with the public school system failing me. I think, anyway. Pretty sure. Actually, I have no idea. I wasn’t a very good student. I barely remember school at all.

But whether I realized it or not, CRT is becoming widely accepted in academics and, as a result, is receiving a good amount of extremely thoughtful and rational criticism from conservatives across the country. I’m kidding, of course. There’s not much thoughtfulness happening in these loud, shakily-voiced privilege fits. Rationality? Also, no.
